Getting Started with vLanIO
Install vLanIO, pair devices on your local network, and transfer files in minutes.
Quick Start with vLanIO
vLanIO lets you send files between devices on the same local network — no cloud upload, no account required for basic transfers.
Step 1: Download and Install
- Visit the Download page
- Choose your platform (macOS, Windows, or Linux)
- Install and launch vLanIO on each device you want to connect
Make sure all devices are connected to the same Wi‑Fi or LAN.
Step 2: Discover Nearby Devices
When vLanIO starts, it scans your local network for other running instances:
- Your device name appears in the app header
- Nearby peers show up in the device list automatically
- If a device is missing, confirm both apps are open and on the same network
Step 3: Send Your First File
- Select a device from the list
- Drag and drop files or click Send
- The recipient accepts the transfer on their side
- Files save to the default download folder (configurable in Settings)
Transfers stay on your LAN — nothing is uploaded to the cloud.
Step 4: Get Help
If something does not work:
- Read the documentation
- Check the troubleshooting guide
- Contact support from the About page
FAQ

Q: Can I transfer folders?
A: Yes. Select or drag an entire folder; vLanIO preserves the directory structure.
Q: Is there a file size limit?
A: There is no artificial cap from vLanIO. Practical limits depend on available disk space and network speed.
